I've seen some bloggers who are really able to capture their inner life. They themselves seem to spill out on the page. How do you do that? I wish I could write more authentically in that way. At least I don't always blog news stories now....

Join the club. I see some truely striking blogs out there and aspire to such eloquent candor. Though, it is worth noting that I consider yours one of them.
You do a great job with self-reflection! Besides, there's nothing wrong with posting and discussing news stories...
I think you do a good job too. My secret is, and I don't think I do a very good job, but it's at least truthful...anyway, my secret is....only about two people I know in real life even know my blog exists. Ta Da!
That was my plan as well, and nobody I know knows the URL of my site. But I'm a little neurotic, and wonder what my friends and family would think of me, if they did stumble across my thoughts and observations of them?
Well, you just have to be honest... Which I feel you would be. I don't think anyone could fault you for honesty. But then again, I don't know the dynamics of your family.
