When you pray

When I pray - if I pray - who does all the talking? Prayer is conversation with God, but who's the one expected to do all the listening? Perhaps the next time I go to pray, I will try silence: letting that conversation flow the other way. I might be surprised by what happens.

"Be still, and know that I am God!" (Psalm 46:10)

Listening is always the hardest part of prayer for myself as well. I usually have to have a separate time for listening. It doesn't usually happen at the same time that I'm talking. But that requires some silent, alone time, which is sometimes difficult.

I always think of the song "Word Of God Speak" when I try to remember that I have to listen as well as talk.
