Snow is coming

Blech. Snow is coming. I'm not ready for it yet. The thought of having to wear big heavy boots to work and having salt splashed all over them every day is... unappealing. Funny - I enjoy the snow at the cottage. We ice fish, get wood, go snowmobiling, make an ice rink, and play ice golf. If only it could just snow there...

Snow! I would kill for a little snow. That would be GREAT.

It never arrived. Not here, anyway. Halifax got hammered, but it passed us over.

Getting so snowed in that you can't go to work is cool. Start a raging fire, hunker down, maybe go out and build a snowman. It helps to be at the cottage when this happens.

Last year it didn't snow at all for a while. The lake froze to black ice, and it was like a skating rink. As you walked on the ice, you could look down and see fish swimming. One warm late December day, a brilliant idea came to mind, and we took an ice auger, drilled nine margarine-container shaped holes in the bay, put flags on each hole, and played golf.

First time I've ever pounded a ball 400 yards with a nine iron!
