The fact that they found Bison hair at the location afterwards doesn't negate the possibility that people actually saw a Sasquatch.
A lot of people believe that there is an etheric component to the physical plane (an energy field that is actually part of our bodies and anything else physical and that has a structure -- chakras, nadis, the acupuncture meridians, etc.). The theory is that some beings exist only at the etheric level (the elementals) and someone suggested once that Sasquatches were possibly in that category because people who saw them tended to be in an altered state.
